Based on Charles Dance's screenplay, and set in the 1930s, this is a story of lost love, yearning and the passing of years in a Cornish cottage by the sea.
Ageing sisters Ursula and Janet have their lives turned upside down when they discover a young man washed up on the beach. Nursing him back to health, Ursula falls for the young man, who turns out to be a talented Polish violinist, leading to a journey of discovery and a poignant ending.
